MoneroV scammers are afoot!

There has been a lot of controversy in the privacy coin space over the MoneroV hard fork of Monero. The MoneroV hard fork says that it’s trying to make a better Monero. The way they are trying to improve Monero is though some very small tweaks in the code base. First, they are reducing Monero’s trail emission to zero – making MoneroV a deflationary coin. Second, they made a 5.8% premine of MoneroV’s total supply. Wait how is that making it better? I don’t really know. Sounds more like an attempt to make the devs rich.

But what I do know is the way you “obtain” MoneroV is by providing them with your Monero private key. Not only is this a thing you should never do if you want to keep your coins safe, it also threatens Monero’s privacy – in ways that I currently don’t quite understand (Haven’t read enough on Monero’s technical aspects to speak coherently about it).

But the real reason for this post was to update the community and other redditors about a scam. There are users going around posing as MoneroV’s support team. Although, for all I know they could be part of MoneroV’s support team. But I got this message from one reddit user named u/MoneroVsupport.

He was asking me to send him XMR so that I could receive XMV when the fork happens. Not only is that blatantly incorrect, not how hard forks work, it’s also a clear-cut scam attempt.

Please make sure to keep your cryptocurrency safe by not buying into the bull crap around twitter and on reddit. Never give out your private keys to anyone – even if they are offering another coin. But really… I think we are all smart enough to realize u/MoneroVsupport’s scam attempt.
